Research at ALC aims at the advancement and dissemination of knowledge to revolutionize legal education through modern pedagogies, thereby adapting to the changing world in which law professionals operate. ALC publishes a bi-annual peer reviewed journal –Journal of Asian Law College. The Journal endeavors to maintain a balanced representation of purely research-oriented scholarship and practice-based contributions drawn from the experiences of legal professionals across diverse areas of law. Preference is accorded to application-oriented research papers as well as theoretical works of exceptional originality that have the potential to advance further research of both theoretical and practical significance.
SUBMISSION SCHEDULE
The Journal accepts submissions on a rolling basis throughout the year. All manuscripts received on or before 15th May or 15th November of each year will be considered for publication in the June or December volume of the respective issue for that year, provided the submissions comply fully with the publication guidelines set out herein.
COVER LETTER
All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter containing the following details: Title of the Paper, Name of the Author(s), Institutional Affiliation, and Contact Details (email address and phone number).
ABSTRACT
Each submission must include an abstract of not more than 300 words, presented on a separate page immediately preceding the main text. The abstract must clearly outline the purpose, scope, and conclusions of the paper and convey to the reader the significance and relevance of the research.
WORD LIMIT
The prescribed word limit for Research Articles is 4,000 to 5,000 words, inclusive of footnotes. For all other categories including Case Comments, Book Reviews, Bill Comments, and Legislative Comments the word limit is 2,500 to 3,500 words, inclusive of footnotes.
AUTHORSHIP
Co-authorship is permitted for a maximum of two authors. Co-authored submissions must include the complete details of both authors in the cover letter.
FORMATTING GUIDELINES
Main Text: Submissions must be made in Microsoft Word format with the following specifications - Font: Times New Roman; Size: 12pt; Line Spacing: 1.5; Alignment: Justified; Margins: 1.5 inches (left) and 1.0 inch (right, top, and bottom).
Footnotes: Font: Times New Roman; Size: 10pt; Line Spacing: 1.0; Alignment: Justified.
CITATION STYLE
Authors must adhere to either the Modern Language Association (MLA) or the American Psychological Association (APA) citation style, applied consistently throughout the manuscript.
ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION
All submissions must be sent electronically as an email attachment in Microsoft Word format to the Editor-in-Chief at: principal@alc.edu.in
The subject line of the email must read: ‘Submission for Journal of Asian Law College.’
All correspondence and submissions must be formally addressed to the Editor-in-Chief along with the requisite covering letter.
Screening Policy & Plagiarism Policy: The draft submissions undergo Plagiarism Test; the maximum limit of similarity index allowed is 10%. The Authors are requested to make sure that this criterion is fulfilled before submission.
Besides the similarity index test the Journal Editorial team runs an initial screening test to check if the general appropriateness of work and the foundation of the paper is conceptually and theoretically fit. At this stage, the team also makes sure that the draft meets the basic requirements in terms of citation style, formatting, word limits etc. Only after considering the above two tests, the approved drafts are then sent to experts for Peer Review who evaluate it on various factors, such as relevancy of topic, comprehensiveness, original contribution to existing knowledge, language, coherence etc., and the review report is shared with the author. Final acceptance or rejection is subjected to the clauses mentioned above.
