Moot Court is an integral aspect of a law student's life, and the lessons learned through participation help students stand tall in real courtroom scenarios when they enter the profession. Moot Court is an indispensable part of legal education, and participation is a mandatory requirement as stipulated by the Bar Council of India (BCI) for regular B.A. LL.B., B. COM LL.B. and LL.B. courses. Asian Law College believes in the holistic development of students, not only on the academic front but also in practical aspects. ALC has a functional Moot Court Committee consisting of students and faculty members who act as mentors, teaching students the minute details of mooting. The society is actively engaged in conducting moot courts at national and international levels.
Students of ALC interact with practicing advocates from the Supreme Court, High Courts, and District Courts under the aegis of this society to motivate them and help them understand the vital contribution that moot court participation at the college level makes to an advocate's professional life. ALC has a separate Moot Court Hall, which was inaugurated by the Honorable Mr. Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar, the 44th Chief Justice of India. The forum is equipped with all the required infrastructure for conducting moot court competitions. The ambience of ALC's Moot Court Hall—which houses books, bare acts, commentaries, properly arranged podiums, a statue of Lady Justice, images of the Preamble of the Constitution, and more—is itself an important factor that encourages students to participate in moot courts. The Moot Court Committee at ALC has the responsibility of informing prospective students about upcoming moot court competitions in the country, and students are then trained by faculty members for the same. The society also collaborates with various other law colleges to keep pace with modern developments and techniques in the area of mooting.
At ALC, students, right from the inception of their professional journey, are made to witness moot courts in order to develop their interest and get trained to perform in real courtroom scenarios that they are expected to encounter a few years down the line. There are numerous students at ALC who are avid mooters and have received laurels at various moot court competitions. Moot court skills are further enhanced when students of ALC are associated with practicing advocates and judges during their internships, where they gain firsthand practical experience.
